Shakin' & Makin' Bruised Pineapple Martinis

To someone who is not a matini drinker, martinis are very strong and over-powering. Not a beverage I would tend to order. My first time going to a martini lounge I was browsing through their very extensive list of drinks. A lot of booze that I didn't care for all mixed together to make a drink that I could never possibly choke down. Then I came across the "Bruised Pineapple Martini". The name caught me first, then the ingredients. I loved the way it sounded, so I ordered one. It was one of the best drinks I had ever had. All the different flavours mixing together, complimenting one another. It went down so easy I had to order a second one.
And now you can make yourself on at home.
Here it is. I'll take you through the steps of how to make a "Bruised Pineapple Martini".

As I look at the year that has passed by so quickly, I stop and think of things I've done, places I've been, people I've met and relationships that have begun. I am closing off my 2007 wanting more.

I am pronouncing this new year as "My 2008".

This year I will be more committed to my business. I will achieve more and be proud of what I do. I will take control of my future. I will learn more and share my new knowledge with many. I will not take friendship for granted. At every chance I get, I will let those I love know that they are special to me.

I want to document "My 2008" and share my sucesses with you. To inspire you to want to be better, to achieve more, to grow as a person. Take this journey with me as I chase my dreams through 2008. I will be sucessful, I will make more money, I will have better relationships. I will learn to better understand people and be understood by others.

I vow to myself that I will suceed!

Caesar Sundays!!

Caesar: the undisputed master of the Roman world. Also...a refreshing, unique tasting beverage.

Created by a Canadian bartender in 1969, Caesars are now Canada's #1 selling cocktail with more than 250 million sold a year in bars alone. Think about how many are consumed in people's back yards through the summer. I know that's what I was sipping on this past Sunday. Do you want to know how to make the ultimate Caesar?

Well here it is...

Classic Caesar Recipe:

What you'll need:

4 oz Clamato* Juice
1.5 oz. vodka
Pepper

Salt
Hot Pepper Sauce
Worcestershire ® Sauce

Lime or lemon wedges

Celery salt

Highball glass

First, rub a lime wedge around the rim of your glass then tip it upside down in a dish which has your celery salt in it. Move the glass around in the celery salt until the rim is covered. Fill your glass about halfway with ice. In your glass mix 1.5 oz vodka, 3 dashes hot pepper sauce, 3 dashes Worcestershire sauce a shake of salt and pepper. Add a pinch of celery salt and top with Clamato juice. Traditionally garnished with a stick of celery, you can use your own creativity to garnish your Caesar. Some popular garnishes are spicy beans, pickle spears, pepperoni sticks, shrimp or chili peppers.

Paint for Pleasure

You don't have to be an artist to pick up a paint brush and go to it. Something so simple can be so inspiring. I'm going to show you how to add a little inspiration to any room of your home. All of the materials used in this project if not already in your home, can be picked up at your local craft store or even the dollar store.

Shall we begin?

Materials you will need :

1 canvas (any size)

2 colours of acrylic paint which co-ordinate with each other and blend with the room it will hang in

1 thick paint brush

1 thin, short bristled paint brush

rubber or foam alphabet stamps

1 quote which inspires you (you can search inspirational quotes on the internet if you don't have on in mind)

Start by deciding which colour you would like to be your solid background and which you would like your lettering to be.

Once you have made up your mind, put some paint into a dish and use your thick brush to paint the entire canvas. Leave it to dry for a couple hours. You may need to do a second coat of paint over it depending on how thick the first coat was. If needed, leave another couple hours until second coat is dry.

Put some of your paint that you will be using for your lettering into a small dish. You won't need very much of this colour. Use your small brush to paint your stamps. Do 1 letter at a time. Don't put too much paint on the stamp or it will just turn the letters into blobs of paint.

Once you have finished stamping your quote you can add little accents if you choose to have something extra you would like. Leave you painting to dry and then it is ready to hang.

Try it for yourself. This fun and easy painting will add a new feel to any room you hang it in.

Seaside Vasescape

This is an easy-breezy centerpiece to make. (Looks good on a mantel too). Buy or find a tall then clear glass vase and fill the bottom with about 2-3" of sand or beach pebbles. Then fill it to the top with found objects from the beach.

Slap some colour on a canvas

These two paintings hang in my guest bathroom. You can make some art too! Just buy 2 6"x6" gallery wrapped canvas (they are ready to hang - no need to frame) and pick out some acrylic paint colours you love. Just slap on the paint in all different directions until you like what you see. (paint can be painted over, so don't worry about making any mistakes!). Then use alphabet rubber stamps to put any words you want on them. Voila! Instant Art.
